Fennel Seeds
Fennel seeds are dried seed from a herb with yellow flower named fennel. They are used in food. The dried seeds and oil are also used as medicine.
How they are used in foods:
- They give a sweet licorice-like taste and scent to curries, stews, bread, desserts, and beverages.
- In some parts of the world, people chew it after a meal.
- Chewing it is thought to help aid digestion and prevent gas.
- They may help prevent or reduce gas in several way
Fennel seeds uses in Medicine:
- As medicine, it might relax the colon, and also appears to contain an ingredient that may act like estrogen in the body.
- People use fennel for menstrual cramps.
- It is also used for excessive crying in infants (colic), indigestion, and symptoms of menopause, but there is no good scientific evidence to support most of these uses.
